For our prayers of intercession today, there is a response.
Following the words ‘We take the light of your love and understanding into our hungry world.
Would you please say and sign the response.

To feed those with hungry tummies
To come alongside those with hungry hearts.

Generous God
We pray for those who are hungry in a world of plenty.
We take the light of your love and understanding into our hungry world.

To feed  those with hungry tummies
To come alongside those with hungry hearts.

We pray for the millions in the world living on the brink of famine,
Who daily suffer the pain of hunger.
We pray especially for the aid workers who respond to this ever-growing need.
Reminding us of the richness of your goodness and grace
to the needs we encounter.

We take the light of your love and understanding into our hungry world.

To feed  those with hungry tummies
To come alongside those with hungry hearts.

We pray for those that work and farm the land.
Those that have lost their crops from the recent devastating floods.
That their fields will recover and the harvest will come.
We pray especially for the harvest which satisfies our needs and sustains our bodies.
Reminding us that you are the source and provider of all things.

We take the light of your love and understanding into our hungry world.

To feed  those with hungry tummies
To come alongside those with hungry hearts.

We pray for those who are homeless.
That they are not forgotten but are held in our hearts.
We pray especially for those that show hospitality and the warmth of their conversions.
Reminding us of the generous welcome that is ours in you.

We take the light of your love and understanding into our hungry world.

To feed  those with hungry tummies
To come alongside those with hungry hearts.
Amen.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION – St Peters all-age service
Salt and Light.

For our prayers of intercession today, there is a response. Following the words ‘Lord let your light shine through us ’, would you please sing the response.

We all need a little salt
Need a little light
Need a hopeful word
Shining bright.

After the last section, we will sing:

We can be a little salt
Be a little light
In a darkened world
Shining bright.

Let us now pray to the father of light.
That we may truly become the salt and light of the word.

Lord let your light shine though us.

We all need a little salt
Need a little light
Need a hopeful word
Shining bright.

Loving Heavenly Father
We bring before you the needs of the world.
For those who are lives are darkened by depression stress and anxiety.
may your presence give light strength and calmness.

Lord let you light shine though us

We all need a little salt
Need a little light
Need a hopeful word
Shining bright.
We bring before you areas of natural disaster,
Where earthquakes, hurricanes and winter storms have devastated and damaged lives.
We pray for those left homeless and without loved ones,
Facing a future of darkness and uncertainty.

Lord let you light shine though us

We all need a little salt
Need a little light
Need a hopeful word
Shining bright.

We bring before you war-torn areas.
We pray for wisdom to touch the minds and hearts of those in positions of influence.
We think of those innocently caught up in the conflicts.

Lord let you light shine though us

We all need a little salt
Need a little light
Need a hopeful word
Shining bright.

We think of those whose lives are yet to be touched by the light and love of Christ.
Those who dedicate their lives to take your word out into the darkness.
We pray that everyone everywhere might know of and see the brightness of your light.

Lord let you light shine though us

We all need a little salt
Need a little light
Need a hopeful word
Shining bright.

We can be a little salt
Be a little light
In a darkened world
Shining bright.

Amen.

Prayers shared at Magdala 30/6/2019

God creator of the evening sky, your power and presence are all around us.
You’re in the sunshine at the beginning of each new day.
You are in the stars that twinkle at night.
Open our hearts to the every day little miracles we often fail to see.
We ask that through your unconditional love you will help silence the voices that say we are not good enough.
Help us to know that we are treasure,
We are prized,
We are cherished,
We are loved.
Infinitely.
By you.

Pause for some quiet reflection lighting of individual candles and personal prayers.

The light from the candles remind us Jesus is the light of the world and the light in our darkness.
When our hearts are in downward freefall,
You are with us
When our minds race with anxiety,
You calm us
When our throats close in fear,
You be will be our voice
When sleep will not come,
You sit with us,
When waking hurts, you hold our hand,

We take comfort in knowing as we leave here tonight you will walk with us.
Taking the warmth and love from this building into our communities.
Showing those that walk alone that a church is more than a brick building and stained glass windows.
Church is a warm blanket, a hot meal, a place if shelter and a listening ear,
Lord we offer our prayers to you.
We offer ourselves to you.
Amen.
